My Experience with the JubileeYarn Chenille Yarn
If you’re looking for a soft, plush chenille yarn that feels great to work with and delivers beautiful results, I want to share my honest experience with JubileeYarn Chenille Yarn (100g / Worsted Weight).
I purchased this yarn on Amazon and used it to create several crochet projects for a client. This is not a technical or laboratory-style review, but a real-life opinion from someone who bought the yarn, crocheted with it, and used it in finished projects.
In this post, I’ll walk you through how this chenille yarn feels while crocheting, what types of projects I made, who I think it’s best suited for, and whether I believe it’s worth the price—especially if you’re considering it for special crochet projects or customer orders.

It’s not the most affordable chenille yarn compared to other options on the market or acrylic yarns. However, in my case, it was totally worth it because JubileeYarn offers color options that I couldn’t find in other chenille brands — and my client wanted those exact shades.
Projects Made With This Yarn
With this chenille yarn, I made two closed cowls and two beanie-style hats, one piece in each color.
For each project, I used approximately 100 grams of yarn, meaning one skein per piece.
Both projects were made for an adult woman and were crocheted toward the end of last year, just in time for the colder months.
Keep in mind that the total amount of yarn can vary depending on the final size of your project and your personal tension, but this reference can be very helpful when planning materials.
How This Chenille Yarn Feels to Crochet
The thickness of this yarn is medium; I’ve worked with both thicker and thinner chenilles, and this one strikes a nice balance.
I used a 5 mm crochet hook, and for me, it was very easy and pleasant to work with. The yarn doesn’t fray while crocheting, and the strand held up firmly throughout the projects.
This chenille has a super soft texture, the kind that feels like a gentle touch while you crochet—a real treat for projects that take several hours.
Stitch used:
I worked a textured stitch, doing half double crochet through one of the loops of the stitch. I don’t know the technical name for it; I learned it from a video tutorial on the Crochet MC channel.
đź’ˇ Important detail: Even using dark colors, which can make seeing your stitches a little harder, I had no problem crocheting these projects (the beanies and cowls). The textured stitch came out beautiful and well-defined.
Recommended Skill Level
I consider myself an advanced crocheter, and for me, this yarn was easy to work with. However, to be honest:
🔸 Not recommended for absolute beginners, especially if you’ve never worked with chenille before.
🔸 If you are just starting and still have trouble identifying stitches, this type of yarn can be a little challenging, especially with dark colors.
🔸 More suitable for intermediate or advanced levels. That said, if you are a beginner but are good at following tutorials and completing projects without much technical knowledge, you could try a simple project with it.
Fraying and Fuzz
This is a common question when it comes to chenille yarn:
✔️ The yarn sheds a little fuzz when cut, which is completely normal for this type of material.
✔️ While crocheting, I did not experience any fraying or breakage.
The hook size and tension can affect this, but with a 5mm hook and normal tension, my experience was excellent.
⚠️ Important: As with all chenille, be careful when undoing stitches, as the yarn can fray if handled too roughly. This is a general property of chenille, not specific to this brand.
Final Results
Although I couldn’t personally use the pieces since they were made for a client in Michigan (where it gets very cold), she told me:

Colors and appearance:
The colors I received were exactly like those shown on Amazon, at least for the two shades I picked. This is very important, especially when working on custom orders where precise colors are needed.
Is it Worth It?
In my opinion, yes, it’s worth it if you want to treat yourself, especially if you’re looking for specific colors you can’t find in other chenille brands.
It’s not the cheapest yarn on the market, but:

I haven’t personally washed the pieces since they were made for a client. However, since this is 100% polyester chenille, it’s always best to follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
They recommend machine washing, but here are some general tips to preserve the texture:
Hand wash or use a delicate cycle
Preferably place the item in a laundry bag
Avoid high temperatures and tumble drying
These steps help keep your chenille soft and looking new for longer.
